The sea’s steady beat is a lullaby,
Listen in bliss,
Float on gentle waves,
Breathe in the salty air,
A pleasure to be sure.
The sea’s temper lashes,
Vicious waves cut,
Currants hold you under,
The heart of the sea wishes for blood.
Snap and crackle,
Rip and pull,
The sea is a fickle beast,
With mood swings aplenty.
A calm surface shatters,
Blades of water rise,
And suck in life.
Then it’s over,
And the sea is gentle once again,
No sign of temper remains,
A glass surface ripples,
As the sea rests for its next attack.

Mythological Couples: Hades and Persephone

“Long time no see, dear brother.” Zeus greeted him. “What brings you here?”
“It’s been quite long, yes.” Hades agreed. “Listen, I’ve wanted to talk to you about something.”
“I am all ears then.” Zeus replied, his curiosity peaked. Whatever the matter, it must be quite important, if Hades was willing to leave his palace.
“I want to marry Persephone.” Hades responded straightforwardly.
He had forgotten his brother was not a man of many words.
“Persephone?” Zeus asked incre

You've Endured So Many Storms That You Became One
You have endured so many storms that you became one.
Your mother was a tsunami.
Her emotions came in waves
and crashed down on you like
“this is all your fault”.
Her high-tide flooded your basement.
There’s water damage in your roots.
She taught you how to swim when you were five years old,
but somehow you’ve been drowning for seventeen years.
You once told me that you hid all the knives in your house
so that the waves wouldn’t carry them away.
Your father was a thunderstorm.
His voice shook your house so much,
I could have almost sworn that you lived by train tracks.
His thought clouds
generated enough el
